The National Institute of Statistics carried out the 2009 National Population and Housing Survey, which covered a sample of about 162,500 households representative of all households across the regions, distributed over 6,500 enumeration areas in all governorates, including their cities, towns, and rural areas.The sample is drawn from the frame of the 2004 General Census of Population and Housing.
